Administrative City in Minas Gerais Installs One of the Most Advanced IT Infrastructures in Brazil

Enquanto ainda se pensa em criar uma academia Cisco em Mato Grosso, os mineiros...

Business Partners NetService and Cimcorp Win Government Bid, Will Deploy End-to-End Cisco Network for Communications and Security (http://newsroom.cisco.com)

BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil, April 19, 2010 - The consortium between NetService, a Cisco® Silver Certified Partner, and Cimcorp, a Cisco Premier Certified Partner, both based in Brazil, have won a public bid to provide the entire infrastructure for network, data security, wireless connectivity and unified communications for the new Administrative City in the state of Minas Gerais, using an end-to-end Cisco borderless network architecture. The administrative complex, one of the largest in the world, was built between the airport of Confins and the city of Belo Horizonte and was opened last March.
The Administrative City will feature one of the most extensive information technology infrastructures in the country and will consolidate departments and agencies of the state's direct administration, with the goal of speeding up public management processes, better serve the population, and cut costs for public administration. The mission of the consortium between NetService and Cimcorp is to improve efficiency in the implementation and use of the IT and telecommunications system across the 270,000 square meters of the complex's area.

Highlights:

  • The deployment involves 11,000 Cisco Unified IP Phone 7900 Series handsets, including 7906G, 7945G and 7965G models with the aim of enabling innovative and interoperable collaborative communications.
  • In order to provide a highly secure network environment to support the work of approximately 16,000  government employees, the deployment also includes security solutions, firewall systems, the Cisco Security Monitoring, Analysis, and Response System (Cisco Security MARS) and the Cisco Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), which provide enhanced protection for the system's integrity and the confidentiality of critical information. These features answer a common demand from the public authorities who seek to preserve the security of confidential data moving between government agencies without hindering collaboration.
  • The Administrative City is expected to receive a flow of more than 5,000 people a day. Currently, the state's direct administration operates from 53 locations within the city. The first transfers happened in January, when a group of 1,800 employees started working at the new complex. The entire direct administration structure of Minas Gerais is expected to be headquartered at the administrative city by mid-2010.
